Ribbon Falls, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Ribbon Falls gently cascades over the rocks below McHenrys Peak. This stream runs out of Black Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park and continues down through Glacier Gorge.

This morning’s hike started at 3:15. The hike was still and serene. We arrived at Black Lake before sunrise hoping for a colorful sky to set off the magnificent landscape. We were greeted with wisps of clouds forming over McHenrys peak that seemed to be blowing in from the West. As sunrise unfolded, the clouds continued to build over the peak. They wanted nothing more than to catch the sunrise color, but cloud cover to the East was just a bit too dense.
