Storm Break Over La Jolla

Storm Break Over La Jolla

La Jolla, California

A touch of color peeks through the horizon as storm clouds clear over the ocean in La Jolla. I really like the moody feel of this image.

I was in Southern California, on vacation for the week. This evening, I was planning to simply stop by to scout this location. It has been raining off and on all day, and was still drizzling as we left dinner. My family was with me and I promised just 15 minutes so I could look around (thanks for your patients). The rain stopped just as we parked and the clouds began to break up. There were beautiful sun rays in the distance, but they disappeared as I slipped across the rocks as fast as I could. I was hoping the sun would peak through a bit more and light up the sky—it never did. This was my first introduction to photographing a seascape.
